A 2016 Caldecott Honor Book and Coretta Scott King Award Winner!
This incredible picture book tells the true story of Troy "Trombone Shorty" Andrews, a child prodigy from the Treme neighborhood of New Orleans. He was leading his own band at just six years old! He earned his nickname by playing a trombone twice as long as he was tall.

A vibrant, inspiring celebration of music, culture, and determination this book is a must-read for kids and adults alike.

I’ve had the chance to see Trombone Shorty perform live a couple of times at the Music Box venue in Atlantic City’s Borgata Casino, and the shows were absolutely fantastic! The crowd was on their feet the entire time. His energy, talent, and stage presence are truly unforgettable.

I absolutely love picture books that depict African American life! 🙌🏾🎺📚
